Auction #2 Signed ARC of Ashfall by Mike Mullin

Ashfall isn’t out until October, but Mike has generously offered a signed Advanced Reader’s Copy.

Alex Halprin spends his time in Cedar Falls, Iowa playing computer games, arguing with his mom, and practicing taekwondo. A few weeks before his sixteenth birthday, his parents leave him home alone for the weekend while they visit an uncle in Illinois. Three hours after they leave, the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, plunging the U.S. into a cataclysmic natural disaster. Alex is forced to begin a lonely and dangerous trek across northern Iowa and Illinois to try to find his family.

Thanks so  much to Mike for the donation. You can check him out at

    • I apologize for leaving a non-bidding note here. Do you live in Oelwein, Karla? My wife and I stayed there during our first research trip to Iowa (for ASHFALL) and ate about 5 meals at The Country Cottage. The sequel, ASHEN WINTER, takes place elsewhere, but we did make a side trip during our second research trip to Iowa to go back to The Country Cottage. It was such a friendly and welcoming place. The first 10 or 15 chapters of ASHFALL take place in Cedar Falls. Alex (the protagonist) never visits Oelwein, but he does pass not far south of there. Good luck in the auction!

  6. Small world 😀 I actually teach 6th grade in Oelwein. I live in a smaller town northeast. Alex, my son, can’t wait to read your stories! Oelwein has many great places to eat-let me know the next time you make a side trip and we can visit. Check out our class blog –I’ll be sure to blog about Alex’s adventures in Cedar Falls and beyond.
